Impulse Music Education

Grant programme for more and better music in primary schools

Would you like to have more and better music lessons in your school? Give support to your teachers and staff to make this possible? And work together with a local music school, a marching band, brass band or orchestra? The grant programme Impulse Music Education of the Cultural Participation Fund enables schools to invest in more and better music education.

Applying for a grant

Who can apply?
A school board is able to apply for one or more school locations. Each location needs to make a custom-made plan, matching its ambitions and the school’s possibilities.

What´s involved?
You can apply for a grant if you are planning to:

  • organise structural musical lessons; and
  • train the people who teach the classes in their capacity to teach music; and
  • work together with musical organisations, such as music schools, orchestra's, brass bands, marching bands or concert venues.

How much?
It´s a three year grant, the amount of which varies depending on the number of students.

  • Up to 99 students: €10,000-
  • Between 100 and 200 students: €15,000-
  • 200 or more students: €20,000-

The school is obliged to match these funds with an equal amount. This may partly (60% maximum) consist of staff hours.
